Born in India of an Indian father and German mother, I was raised in India and have lived in Kolkata, New Delhi, Singapore, Manila, and Bangkok before finding myself currently (2022) inWashington, DC
as US Bureau Chief for The Straits Times.

In my career as a foreign correspondent I have worked in print and multimedia journalism and documentary films covering politics, elections, climate change, conflict, natural disasters, and social and environmental issues across Asia and the United States.
